So What's the Calculator Thing About?
Many of the pages associated with this Web site contain a chemical calculator window
in the page header. This calculator is a stoichiometric calculator, and instructions
for the use of the calculator are printed below. The chemist's first glimpse of
the atomic molecular world comes via stoichiometry. The stoichiometric calculator
is thus a fitting symbol to place in the header of a chemist's Web page.
Calculator Instructions
Using standard chemical notation (e.g. Al2/Al2(SO4)3*125), enter a stoichiometric
calculation into the text entry area of the JavaScript calculator at the top of
the page. After typing the calculation, click the 19th century stoichiometric equivalence symbol,
,
to execute the calculation. The chemical calculator will calculate the answer and print
it in the entry text area. Use square brackets to force arithmetic operations (e.g.
[[2+2]/3]). Normal parentheses are reserved for standard chemical formula notation. There
is no fancy error catching. Illegal entries will simply produce an JavaScript entry
error whine in the calculator display text area! Just re-enter the calculation and
try again
