Using standard chemical notation (e.g. Al2/Al2(SO4)3*125), enter a stoichiometric
calculation by clicking/touching the appropriate symbols and numbers. After completing
the calculation entry, click/touch "ans" button or the calculation text
window. The chemical calculator will calculate the answer and display it in the
calculation text window. Use square brackets to force arithmetic operations (e.g.
[[2+2]/3]). Normal parentheses are reserved for standard chemical formula notation.
There is no fancy error catching. Illegal entries will simply produce a "Calculator
Entry Error" message in the calculation text window. Click/touch "mem" to reenter
a previous entry.
You can enter a calculation by using the keyboard. Type your calculation into the
text field below and click/touch Accept Text Entry. If you do not change the text
field, then the original calculation will be retained.
The chemical calculator can be used as a browser App on any hand held device. On
the iPad, a browser App icon for the calculator can be created by the following
actions:
Load the calculator into the iPad Safari browser.
Touch the curved "send url" arrow to the left of the url address window.
Select "Add to Home Screen."
Type a name for your browser App in the resulting screen.
ouch the "Add" button.
That's it. The calculator now appears as a browser App icon.
Enter the name of a compound, and the calculator will query the NIH/NCI Resolver
for the molecular formula. The formula will then be added to the calculator window.
Enter the name of a compound, and the calculator will query the PubChem for the
molecular formula. The formula will then be added to the calculator window.
